Get involved

There is no doubt that children learn a huge amount while in quality nursery education; however parents are the first and most important educators in their child’s life. A majority of the time, children are in the home environment, where learning can and does happen naturally throughout their daily lives.

Together, practitioners and parents can have a significant positive influence on a child’s learning and development. We believe that practitioners should work alongside families to support the pace and quality of the child’s developmental progress.

We encourage all parents to become actively involved in their child's learning by:

  •  Being able to read and add to your child's online learning journal
  •  Inviting you to join in with our sessions:
    • You can come and play in any session
    • We hold parent activity weeks (each half term) with a theme e.g.construction, gardening, baking
  • Inviting you to regular open events e.g. harvest, phonics, school readiness
  • Inviting you to regular parents meetings - often planned outside your working hours
  • Joining our parent groups like PEEP or Stay and Play

Why become a volunteer at nursery?

Volunteering at your child's setting can help you:

  • Increase your enjoyment and understanding of the way your child learns
  • Learn new skills, gain confidence and practical experience
  • Make new friends and meet other parents
  • Take up free training opportunities to help you progress into paid work
  • Get to know your child’s friends better
  • Explore new career opportunities in childcare
  • Give something back to your local community

We are always looking for volunteers to read and share stories, get creative, bake or join us on our outings in the local community.

The best source of information on how to become involved is likely to be your child's key worker or the Head teacher and remember to look out for the latest newsletter.
